Clarissa Jones began teaching Clarinet at YAMS in 2006.
Clarissa is currently completing her Master in Music degree in clarinet performance at Mercer University.
Clarissa had the honor of performing in Carnegie Hall in New York City in May 2008. As a performer Clarissa plays in an array of music ensembles as well as a soloist.
She earned her Bachelor of Music Degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. She currently holds the position as principal clarinetist in the Mercer University Orchestra and Mercer Wind Ensemble. She recently toured with the Mercer Woodwind Trio throughout Georgia.
Her past performances include the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra (Johnson City, Tennessee), the Kingsport Symphony Orchestra (Kingsport, Tennessee), and a variety of East Tennessee State University ensembles.
Clarrisa is an award-winning performer, having been awarded or earned h the Semper Fidelis Award for Outstanding Musicianship. the John Philip Sousa Award, and several scholarships and assistantships while completing her Bachelor and Master degrees.
As an educator Clarissa has significant experience working with elementary, High School bands, and music organizations. She has 8 years experience in teaching classical clarinet to all ages from beginner levels to advanced.
She is dedicated to music education - as a music educator she loves passing on her musical knowledge and experience to her students.
